You Can Help

You
Can Help

The needs of the orphans that you were introduced to in the  Meet the Children section are especially pressing. Their lives depend on your support, and their hope for the future rests largely in your assistance with school fees, so they can attend school.

Will You Help?

1. FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Here are some specific ways in which you can financially help those afflicted and affected by AIDS in the villages that AOET serves:

  • Beginning in 2004 we will be seeking funds to be able to give cereal and milk daily to the 100 impoverished young children who are in our Rehaboth School. Many of these children are severely undernourished. $200 a month, or $2400 a year, will feed 100 of these children.

  • $98 a month, or $1,176 a year, will allow us to hire another teacher for Rehaboth School. We want to be able to pay a volunteer teacher who is assisting us, and we are hoping to add an additional class beginning in the spring of 2004, so donors for two teachers are sought.

  • When our AIDS widows finish their tailoring classes, we wish to provide them with a sewing machine and business start-up costs, including one month's rent. You can assist a widow in becoming self-sufficient with a one-time gift of $200. You will be sponsoring a specific widow and will receive information about her and her family that you are assisting.

  • $100 a month, or $1200 a year, will allow us to hire a physician twice a month to augment our nurse, and provide village health services that are otherwise unaffordable.

  • Our computer training facility for orphans is much too small for our demand for training. A one-time gift of $233 will enable us to expand our facilities and enable more orphans to become self-sufficient with their newly acquired computer skills.

Of course, we also welcome undesignated gifts that allow us to determine where our greatest needs are at the time the gift is received, and to develop a much needed contingency fund to care for unexpected emergencies.

We have been blessed by so many givers. Perhaps you are one of them. With this support, we have accomplished much over the past year. However, we daily see tragedies that could be avoided if we had greater resources.

Additionally, although we have a very efficient and lean organization, annual pledges would allow us to plan better and be even more effective. Currently we are primarily supported by one-time donations by generous friends. We are looking forward to the time when we will have enough recurring annual gifts to be able to prepare an annual budget with the confidence that the funds will be there. Although we are grateful for any assistance and will continue to joyfully receive one-time gifts, I am asking at this time that you consider making an annual pledge to AOET, if possible.

2. VOLUNTEER SUPPORT

We need people who can volunteer their time to come and work with us in Uganda, especially in the office, as much of the staff are frequently in the villages teaching, counseling, and providing health support. However, volunteers need to raise their own support to travel and to live in Uganda.

AOET  now has a guest house available for volunteers. Please check here for details.

Thank you for your contribution,
and may God richly bless you for your generosity
